Molly the Brave and Me

Beth wishes she could be brave like her friend Molly. Molly never flinches when boys hide dead bugs in her desk, and she cheerfully tells teasing older kids to get lost. Beth is flattered when Molly invites her for an overnight visit at the family farm in the country.

One afternoon the two girls decide to explore a huge field of corn. The tall stalks soon become a bewildering maze, and the sun’s long shadows make every direction look the same. To Beth’s astonishment, Molly – the fearless girl she has always admired – suddenly panics. She cries and cannot remember which way leads to safety.
