The story follows the final days of Narnia as the land is threatened by treachery and deceit. King Tirian, the last king of Narnia, is joined by Eustace and Jill (from The Silver Chair) in a desperate struggle against a false Aslan and a treacherous ape named Shift. As the battle lines are drawn, old friends are summoned back to Narnia, though none can predict the outcome. The novel explores themes of faith, deception, and the ultimate triumph of good over evil. First published in 1956, the book won the Carnegie Medal, the highest mark of excellence in children's literature.
